Drawer fronts get pulled thousands of times, so the front-to-side joint must resist being pulled apart (tension) repeatedly.

    The classic drawer joint because the interlocking tails and pins mechanically resist pulling apart in the exact direction a drawer is stressed, even before glue.

  • Locking rabbet / drawer-lock joint

    A machined joint that mechanically resists pull-apart nearly as well, far faster than hand dovetails, and plenty strong for everyday drawers.

  • Groove for the bottom

    The drawer bottom rides in a groove, not glued, so it can move seasonally and add rigidity.
